JEANNE MARTIN


Jeanne Martin’s personal connection to addiction and recovery began in 2011 with her daughter’s heroin use.  Kathryn Martin has five years of sobriety as of December 1, 2017.  Both mother and daughter are active advocates in the recovery field. Amongst other endeavors, Jeanne has worked on every New Jersey Recovery Rally, participated in the Northern Valley Regional High School Drug Testing Policy Committee, has spearheaded and spoken at numerous community meetings, presentations and forums on addiction and recovery.

Jeanne, a 2013 graduate of Bergen LEADS, civic leadership program, and is an active member of their alumni. She is the Executive Director of Meals on Wheels of North Jersey since 2005. Previously, Jeanne joined the non-profit world as the Administrator for Christian Overcomers, a disability ministry offering respite care and social opportunities for disabled youth and adults, after leaving a successful corporate career.

She is a life-long resident of Bergen County with family roots going back to the 1640's.  She and her husband grew up in Closter, were residents of Haworth for more than 30 years. Her children graduated from Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest. Jeanne is an active leader in her church community; having served as Moderator, Head Deacon, Department of Missions and Christian Education for the Haworth Congregational Church.

Jeanne is passionate, innovative and resourceful. She is a connector: Her network is diverse and the close personal ties she has developed allows her to connect resources with those in need. In May, 2015 Jeanne was honored by the Pascack Valley Chamber of Commerce as “Citizen of the Year” for her tireless work with the vulnerable and marginalized in the community.
